KOM Software announces support for IBM Optical Libraries

Ottawa, ON Canada – April 18, 1994

KOM Software is pleased to announce that their OptiServer® products have been enhanced to add support for the IBM 3995 Multi-Function Optical Library models A63, 063 and 163.

Each side of a disk within the IBM 3995 optical library appears as a single volume or disk drive. The optical library thus appears as a series of standard magnetic drives. The OptiServer II device driver ensures that the native file system is written directly to the optical media, and that all robotic movements are totally transparent to the applications being used.

OptiServer II is available for RISC/Ultrix workstations and AXP/OSF-1 systems from Digital Equipment, SPARCstation™ and SPARCserver™ systems from Sun Microsystems running Solaris or SunOS and H.P UX. The IBM RS6000 and DG UX are currently under development.

OptiServer II is also available for Q-bus, UNIBUS and BI-bus VAX™ systems, as well as the VAXstation™ 3100, 3520 and 3540 and MircoVAX™ 3100 systems.
